Semage is a born artist and it was with this talent he passed all six examinations held by the Royal Academy of arts, London with Distinction and held his SOLO-exhibition as a school boy.
Semage was born in a small fishing village in the south and as a self-taught artist is not ashamed of his roots.” as a native villager I’ve retained many picturesque images from my childhood. Village men and women as well as children still longer in my memory” recalls Semage, he has learnt a few things from a few people and places, just like any other artists inescapable phenomenon of particularly by present times.
But he is different – he is Semage - artist of Sri Lanka and of the world as well. When his exhibitions commence in Colombo, commence in thousands would be made aware of this truth in no small measure.

 
Semage is unassuming and simple educated at Dharmashoka College, in Ambalangoda, he was the chief artist of the former SUN and Davasa group of news papers for many years, Mr. Semage part of the intimate groups of people who traveled the length and breath of Sri Lanka for the Gamudawa Programme in 1990 he was awarded the national honour “Kalasuri” by President “Ranasinghe Premadasa” he later became an art journalist at the Lankadeepa News paper.
